This one-of-a-kind Serving Tray was created for a seasonal exhibit at a Lexington, Kentucky gallery. A stunning horse head with flowing mane was beautifully carved into the Serving Tray body. The carved image was then hand-painted.
This handsome oval Serving Tray was handmade from solid select Cherry and was milled here in our home-based woodworking shop from a solid piece of Cherry. We used a solid block of Cherry measuring 23″ x 16″ x 2″.
Finished in ebony stain, the hand-rubbed finish consists of four coats of a polyurethane/oil blend and two coats of an oil/wax blend. This method provides both a durable and an heirloom quality finish.
Wrought by hand and hot oil finished exclusively for Gathering Wood, the handles are the work of a talented blacksmith here in the U.S.A..
This lovely oval Serving Tray yields 226 square inches of hospitality.
